The other day I got my entire family all suited up for the cold, and we wandered down to the Utah Lake State Park. I had told my daughter twice to make sure I didnt forget my film… Well… I pulled out my Mamiya 6, and defeatingly put it back in the car when we realized that I actually did forget. So, it became an iPhone photo day! And, once again, the [...]

The Now I Can book could not have been made possible without the support of so many good people. I wish I knew all the names, and I wish I knew everyone personally. I am forever thankful for the help of everyone that participated in some way. Some of the individuals who backed this project did not wish to be named or rewarded. To those individuals again, I say thank you. This [...]

Today is a very special day. Today, with the help of many many people, we have successfully funded the publication of the Now I Can Book, a photographic documentary. Ever since we passed our goal I have been smiling non stop. I’m surrounded by so many good people. If you are wondering about this project, let me give you a brief summary. Near the beginning of 2011 I met with and then [...]

This last semester I took a printmaking class. I had been wanting to take this class for a while, but it wasn’t until now that it was able to fit into my schedule. We had four assignments, two linocuts and two intaglio prints. I really enjoyed these processes! They were methodical, careful, and showed my hand. Here’s one of my linocut prints, a signed edition of six. This print was made from [...]

Here is another piece I did about a year ago. Again, it is a piece that is very meaningful for me, and was the result of a lot of personal introspection. At the time I was struggling with the expectations I had for everyone, including myself. These expectations were idealized, and I left no room for the human element. It was destructive for me, for my relationships, and for my well being. [...]

I’ve recently been photographing or scanning some of my older work that wasn’t originally a digital file. Some of this work has been included in my graduate school applications. I would love to show some of it off, as it’s all work that is very important and meaningful to me. This piece I made for the UVU Student Art Show which was held at the Woodbury Museum back in April 2011. These [...]

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Today is a special day, and I am thankful. Today I launched my Kickstarter project to be able to print my book, Now I Can. As many of you know, I have been working with Now I Can over the last year, a non-profit physical therapy center. I had two exhibitions during the summer where I was able to show a few photographs to the local communities. You [...]

For months now, I’ve been anticipating the lecture of a favorite artist, Keith Carter. UVU has an artist lecture series they do every semester, and they invite many local artists and occasionally invite a big name. This semester it was Keith. Keith Carter is a fine art photographer out of Beaumont, Texas. He is truly a gentleman with some good old Texas spirit, and I learned a great deal from him. I [...]

What do you say about water? I love it and I hate it! I need to drink it, but it’s also my most expensive cause for repairs in my home. It’s where we go to recreate, and what we avoid when driving a car. It is an environment for life, or it is a drowning force for some. Water… This photograph of a swimming pool was taken in the heat of Arizona, [...]
